Profile
As a freelance editor, I edit and proofread fiction and non-fiction books, academic publications,
advertising copy, catalogues and exhibition texts
and many other types of text.
A master’s degree in German and Romance studies combined with a postgraduate master’s
degree in theatre studies with a major in film, as well as many years’ experience at the Prussian Heritage Foundation, Berlin, have given me profound knowledge of the fields
of art, culture and publishing.
Furthermore, I have been translating from English and French into German for over 15
years, with a focus on the fields of culture, art, design, travel, history and politics.
Periods spent abroad as a school pupil and later as a student formed the initial
foundation of my foreign language skills, which I constantly refresh. I keep
myself up to date by reading relevant literature and I regularly visit exhibitions
in Germany and abroad.
I am a member of the Association of Freelance Editors (Verband der freien Lektorinnen
und Lektoren - VFLL), the Association of German-Language Translators (Verband der
deutschsprachigen Literaturübersetzer - VdÜ)
and Women in Publishing (Bücherfrauen).
I
have acquired the certificate „Freies Lektorat ADB“ of the Akademie des Deutschen Buchhandels.
